How do I make a nomination?
It is easy to nominate a voluntary group or not-for-profit organisation for the Infratil-Waitakere City Community Awards. Simply fill out a Nomination Form and fax to 09 836 8001 or post to Barbara Cade, Waitakere City Council, Private Bag 93109, Henderson, Waitakere City 0650. We will need some additional information about the nominated organisation, such as volunteer numbers and details of the activities carried out over the previous 12 months. Therefore, it is important you include a contact name and number on the Nomination Form so we can contact the group or organisation to access this information.
Where do I obtain a Nomination Form?
Nomination forms can be downloaded here or www.waitakere.govt.nz or picked up from the Waitakere City Council offices at Waitakere Central Civic Centre, 6 Henderson Valley Road, Waitakere City or from the Information Desk of any of the following libraries: Massey, Te Atatu Peninsula, Te Atatu South, Ranui, Henderson, Glen Eden, New Lynn, Titirangi.

Where do I send my completed Nomination Form?
Nomination Forms should be addressed to Barbara Cade, Waitakere City Council, Private Bag 93109, Henderson, Waitakere City 0650. You may also fax the form to (09) 836 8001.
Can I nominate my own voluntary group or organisation?
YES - voluntary groups and organisations can nominate themselves for the Awards! If you are nominating a group or organisation you are part of, please also fill out the Information Form.
What are the categories?
Nominations are divided into five categories.

When will the Awards be held and the winners be announced?
The Awards presentation will be held on Friday 1 October 2010 at 7pm when the winner will be announced.
Who will be invited to the Awards function?
All nominated organisations will be invited to attend the Awards function.
How are the Awards judged?
A panel made up of Waitakere City Council, Infratil and community representatives judges the nominations. The key criteria considered by the judges are voluntary input; utilisation of resources; initiative and creativity; effectiveness of activities; and how the organisation's activities have impacted on the local area/district. The decision of the judges is final.
What do the Infratil-Waitakere City Community Award winners receive?
Each Category Winner receives $500 and a framed certificate for their organisation or group. The Supreme Winner receives $1,000 for their organisation or group, a certificate and trophy engraved with their group or organisation's name. The trophy is held for one year by the Supreme Winner and is then passed on to the recipient of the following Infratil-Waitakere City Community Award.
What preparation is required for the National Awards held in conjunction with the TrustPower National Awards?
The Supreme Winner of the Infratil-Waitakere City Community Award is required to prepare a 10 minute presentation about their group or organisation to be given at the TrustPower National Awards held on a weekend in March 2011 in Tauranga and Western Bay of Plenty. Further information about the TrustPower National Community Awards is provided to the Supreme Winner by TrustPower.
What dates does the Infratil-Waitakere City Community Awards winner need to be available to attend the TrustPower National Awards?
The winner needs to be available for three days in March 2011 to attend the Awards and return to Waitakere City. It may involve taking a day's annual leave from your place of work.
What does the winner of the Supreme National Community Awards receive?
The winner of the TrustPower Supreme National Community Award receives $2,500 for their group or organisation, a framed certificate and a trophy. The runner-up will receive $1,000 and a framed certificate.
