Adams Travelines hands over the wheel to NZ Bus
25th January 2008New-Zealand based passenger transport company NZ Bus today confirmed that it completed the acquisition of Whangarei Bus company, Adams Travelines on January 14th 2008. NZ Bus CEO Bruce Emson said the company was excited about the opportunity that the Whangarei based business presents for NZ Bus.
“The purchase of the Adams business is a logical move" said Mr Emson. “Adams Travelines is a well-performing business which is well respected by its customers, so we were naturally interested in acquiring it. This is a sound commercial decision and one which fits well with our plans for growth.
Formerly a family run business, Adams Travelines has primarily been working in the School Bus and Charter operation and has a long standing contract with Marsden Point Oil Refinery. Adams has 26 buses of which 9 have been specifically built for the charter business.

I am confident that the experience and expertise that NZ Bus brings will ensure that our customers continue to experience the very best in customer service, comfort and reliability.”
“17 drivers were employed by Adams Travelines and it was important to us that these staff were retained as part of the purchase process,” said Mr Emson. "For our customers, it will be business as usual as we assess the business and look for synergy's to add value to their travel experience.”
Mr Emson said “Providing public transport services is about listening to and serving people in the community. We are looking forward to being an involved and contributing member of the local community and focusing on the needs of the people we serve”

NZ Bus currently operates bus operations in the greater Auckland and Wellington region. Additionally it owns and operates Fullers Ferries (Auckland) which operates on the Waitemata Harbour and Hauraki Gulf.
Owned by New Zealand based infrastructure investment company Infratil since 2005, the assets include over 1000 buses, 9 ferries, together with significant land and buildings.
